Place cutouts and define slab seams

1Choose the opening category

Open Cutouts and click inside the intended parent counter. Add Sink Cutout opens the quote price list’s sink catalog; Add Cooktop and Add Outlet open their respective choices. Review the name and starting dimensions. The Quick Add sidebar lets you choose a common type before clicking the counter.

A catalog opening is separate from a supplied physical fixture. Check the actual manufacturer’s opening requirements before using it for fabrication.

2Set the sink’s properties

Click the opening without dragging and choose Properties. Check Name, Width and Depth. Shape offers Rectangle and Oval; Mount offers Undermount, Top Mount and Farmhouse. Material Type and Bowl Style add descriptive details; Double Bowl enables Divide.

Faucet Holes offers zero through five. Setback measures from the sink edge; Spread measures between hole centers. Use the actual fixture requirements and inspect all holes after saving.

3Enter a measured centerline position

In Sink Properties, Show Centerline can be None, Left or Right. Choose the reference side, then enter the distance from that counter edge to the sink center. Fractions are accepted. A blank distance keeps the existing placement. Save and check the resulting canvas dimension.

4Move, rotate, duplicate and delete

Drag the opening to reposition it. Its center remains tied to its parent counter; check the full opening and faucet clearances yourself. Moving or rotating the parent also carries its attached cutouts.

Click without dragging to use Rotate Left or Rotate Right in 15-degree increments. The menu stays open for repeated rotation clicks. Duplicate creates another opening and can add another charge. Review its position immediately; on a very small parent it can start over the original. Delete removes the selected opening; Undo restores accidental changes.

5Configure a cooktop and other openings

Cooktop Properties includes Name, Width, Depth and a burner-count illustration. Burner count does not replace the opening dimensions. Outlet Properties includes its dimensions and the offered centerline options.

Add Other Cutout accepts a name, width and depth for a separate opening. Add Faucet Hole places a standalone hole, separate from the sink’s attached faucet-hole settings. Review their quantities and charges to avoid counting the same work twice.

6Recognize custom openings with no charge

Custom sink and Custom cooktop explicitly say “no charge added.” They open individual Properties so you can set dimensions and options, but they do not add a catalog cutting charge. Verify any separately charged work in Summary & Pricing.

7Add a supplied sink product when needed

Add Sink Product is a separate action. Choose Price List or Inventory (Plumbing), then Brand / Supplier and Product. Review the displayed price and choose Add Sink only when that physical product belongs on the quote. Inventory choices display their cost as the starting product price; review the selling amount.

Custom sink / fixture offers a one-off name and price. A supplied product and the fabrication opening can generate different lines. Selecting a quote product is not a purchase order, receipt or proof of stock reservation.

8Select the counter for seam placement

Open Materials & Slabs, confirm the area’s material, color, thickness and edge, then expand Slabs & Layout. Use Select Piece and click one counter piece. Choose Define Seams. Mixed selections of counters and strips do not enable that action.

9Place a standard or flipped seam

Move along the counter in Place Seams and review the preview line and distance readouts. Standard placement cuts across the centerline; click to add a valid split.

Hold Shift to preview the other direction and read the widths on either side. Release Shift to return to standard placement. Geometry validation checks that the cut splits the polygon; it does not approve a fabrication seam location.

10Use a free seam

Choose Free seam, click the first polygon-edge point, then move to the second edge and inspect the preview. Click again to place the split. Escape backs out of a pending point or mode. Remove unwanted seams with their controls in the list.

11Use a J-seam at an inside corner

J-seam requires an inside polygon corner, so it is disabled for a plain rectangle. Choose J-seam, hover near the marked corner and move toward a leg to choose the cut axis. Press Shift to flip the curve direction.

Review the validity message and try the other leg or curve direction if needed. Click a valid preview to place it. The current tool uses a 1.5-inch radius. Apply your shop’s fabrication requirements when deciding whether the seam is appropriate.

12Review the split pieces on the slab

Choose Done. Split pieces can be moved independently. Use their rotation controls as needed; rotation here changes the nesting arrangement rather than the installed drawing. Seam changes regenerate layout pieces, so check positions again.

Auto Nest arranges pieces, but inspect slab boundaries, overlaps, actual dimensions, defects and vein direction. Review the keep-strips-with-parents option for veined material. Add slabs where required. A clear fit indicator does not certify a physical slab’s suitability.

13Verify pricing, save and reopen

Open Summary & Pricing and check sink, cooktop, outlet, faucet, other-cutout and seam quantities. Inspect any supplied fixture as a separate product. Review zero rates and material-specific pricing rules before using overrides.

Save the quote and add a useful revision note. Reopen Drawing & Pricing to confirm openings and seams persisted, then inspect the actual PDF with the intended document template. Saving a draft does not send it to the customer.
