Manage slabs and quote nesting

1Find and identify physical stock

Open Inventory → Slabs. Cards emphasizes photos, Grouped collects matching colors and List displays individual records and columns. Open a color group to inspect its individual pieces; use each serial number to distinguish them.

Use the filter bar for Material, Supplier, Status, Stock Type, Stone Type, Allocation and Fits dimensions. Check filters and the current page if stock seems missing. A remnant is a stock classification; it still has its own availability or allocation status.

2Arrange the inventory view

Choose Customize to select and order display fields and set Rows per page. Check Live Preview, then Apply. Use temporarily changes the current view; saving a named view requires the offered visibility/default choices. Review those choices before changing a shared view.

In List, click a column header to sort and a row to open the slab. Export downloads the currently loaded result page as CSV, using the active stock filters. Check the page, rows and units before treating it as a complete stock count.

3Receive a slab or bundle

Choose New Slab. In Receive New Slab, select Pricelist, Material, Color, Thickness and Finish. Custom choices are available where the dropdown offers them. Record Date Received, Stock Type and Stone Type separately.

Amount creates individual slab records, from 1 to 50. Record Serial #, Lot / Bundle, Length and Width in inches, Location and the shop location when offered. Generate supplies a code; verify each resulting serial after receiving several pieces. This Amount control is different from issuing a divisible quantity of tile or flooring.

4Add the slab photo and purchasing details

Set the slab dimensions, then use Upload image to crop the slab face to its proportions. Choose from Library uses an existing image. Review the photo against the actual piece; a catalog image may not show its real veins or defects.

Review the Purchase Order and Supplier fields, Cost / SqFt and Notes. Optional Assign to Job can allocate the received pieces to a selected job and its offered phase/event. Receiving and allocation are separate actions: check both outcomes if an allocation error appears.

5Save and check the received pieces

Choose Create Slab and wait for the result. Review the offered label preview and its physical label size before printing. Confirm a successful print only after inspecting the physical output; articles on labels and Zebra setup cover that workflow.

Reopen each received piece. Confirm material/color, thickness, dimensions, serial, lot, photo, cost, status and location. Edit Slab also links to View full journey & history.

6Allocate physical stock to a job

Use Allocate to job on the intended slab. Search for and select the actual job, then Allocate. Reopen Manage allocation to review the linked job and the release control. Check the job's stock information as well as the slab's status.

Where the receiving or edit form offers phase/event placement, choose the intended scope. A manual availability/status choice does not replace checking the actual allocation or quote hold.

7Record consumption or create a remnant

Consume in Edit Slab saves the piece as consumed. Use it when the physical slab has been used, after reviewing any other edits in the form.

Cut → Create Remnant creates a separate offcut linked to the original slab. Enter its actual dimensions, finish and notes. Crop Existing Photo, New Photo or Choose from Library can supply its image. Also mark the original slab as Consumed is selected by default; review it before Create Remnant. Check the new piece's identifier, dimensions and label preview afterwards. Open the new remnant, review its pricelist and set its actual storage location; do not assume it inherited the original's location.

8Set the quote's area and select stock

In Materials & Slabs, choose the area and its material, color, thickness and edge. Review each slab's size and image. View & use opens matching inventory. Check the individual serial, dimensions and availability before selecting it.

Replace current selection starts a layout with the selected inventory slab; arrange the pieces again. Add as additional slab adds it alongside the existing layout. The selected inventory slab's real dimensions are locked in the layout editor. Complete the quote save, then verify its stock hold.

9Organize areas and color options

An area groups counters with the same material, color, thickness and edge. Use the area's drawing to inspect and change counter membership. Rename areas to identify the rooms or work they contain.

Color options hold alternate selections. Check the active option before changing material or layout; selecting another option changes which design you are editing.

10Edit a layout slab

Expand Slabs & Layout and click the slab's displayed dimensions to open Edit Slab. Generic layout slabs allow dimension changes; assigned inventory slabs use their locked physical dimensions. Review the image and Use this image for all slabs in this area before saving.

Unassign removes an inventory link. The delete control removes the layout slab. These layout controls do not delete the physical stock record. Use + Slab to add another planning slab.

11Move, select and rotate pieces

Drag a piece within its slab or across to another slab. Select Piece changes clicks into selection; select the intended pieces, check the selection count and use Rotate L/R 15°. Clear removes the selection. The piece's context menu offers additional actions.

Define Seams requires one selected counter piece. A seam creates independently arranged sub-pieces in the slab layout. Inspect the drawing and the new piece arrangement together after changing seams.

12Include strips and choose the nesting mode

Miter, waterfall and backsplash pieces use slab space too. Where those edge types are present, use the offered Snap Miters or Snap Backsplash controls and inspect the resulting alignment and fit.

Veined material — keep strips with parents favors visual continuity and can use more slabs. Tightest Fit — maximize yield packs more densely and can separate related pieces. Choose the mode for the actual stone and design.

Demo may also show beta Fastest cutting, Cookie-cutter and Nesting gaps. Fastest cutting prefers aligned cuts; Cookie-cutter targets repeated layouts. Kerf and border values apply on the next Auto Nest. These beta controls may not appear for every shop.

13Run Auto Nest and protect an arranged slab

Choose Auto Nest and wait for completion. Review every resulting slab, including any additional planning slabs. Inspect boundaries, overlaps, gaps, strip relationships, openings and vein direction.

Lock layout keeps that slab and its pieces in place during the next Auto Nest. Unlock it when you want those pieces rearranged. Group identical slabs combines repeated layouts in the display. Clean Up removes empty layout slabs; it does not consume inventory.

Use the 2D Layout Preview to inspect pieces against the selected image. On desktop, Hide 2D / Show 2D controls the preview beside the slab layout; on mobile, Preview opens a separate panel.

14Resolve warnings

Check out-of-bounds and overlap indicators and any fit status before saving. Changing a slab size, seam or piece can invalidate an earlier layout.

15Save the layout and verify its stock hold

Open Save → Save & Continue. Complete the revision-note prompt with a note or Skip note & save. Reopen Materials & Slabs and verify the intended slab selection and piece positions, then check Summary & Pricing.

Selecting physical inventory can put that piece on hold for the quote. Removing the linked slab and completing the save releases its quote hold; allow the save and hold update to finish, then check inventory. Receiving, job allocation, consumption and remnant creation remain separate stock actions.
