Open shop-floor and crew displays

Configure named TV and tablet views, choose the screen's scope and use the right crew display.

Read the workflow steps

For shop administrators and crew leads. These steps describe the signed-in app; watching the videos here does not require an account.

1. Compare the four display links

Settings → Displays lists Shop Floor TV, Foreman Tablet, Crew — Today and Crew — Warehouse. TV is for viewing the shop schedule at a distance. The tablet offers expandable activities and completion controls. The crew pages support the signed-in person's field work.

Each card has Open and Copy link. Open launches the screen in another tab; Copy link copies its full address for the intended device.

2. Open and sign in on the target device

Open the copied address on the TV, tablet or phone and sign in as required. Confirm the shop and account before leaving the screen in use. Choose a readable browser size and inspect the result on the actual device.

A shared device retains its signed-in account. A display view narrows the schedule shown; it is not a permission boundary or a separate account.

3. Open the display configuration

Go to Settings → Templates and select Displays. Shop Floor TV and Foreman Tablet have separate named-view lists. A view can identify a physical screen, such as Fab Bay TV or Install Foreman.

With no named views configured, the screen uses its built-in everything-today layout. Adding a view does not add an activity or assign a crew.

4. Create and name a TV view

Under Shop Floor TV, click New view and replace the generated name with a useful screen name. Choose Today or Week. Week follows the calendar's Sunday-to-Saturday week.

When the shop has locations, choose All locations or a specific location. Events with no location can still appear; a location selection is not proof that every visible event has that location assigned.

5. Choose the TV card information

Under Card shows, choose Account, Job #, Job name, Crew, Activity type, Time, Status, Address and Notes as needed. These controls select information on TV schedule cards; they do not modify the underlying job.

Keep enough identifying information to recognize the work from across the room. If you clear every field, those details remain hidden. Foreman Tablet uses its own expandable rows and does not offer these TV-only card controls.

6. Filter by activity type

Leave Show ALL activity types checked to include every available type. Clear it to choose individual types such as Fabrication, CNC or Install. The options follow the shop's activity configuration.

Selecting no types with the all-types option off produces no matching events. Recheck the all-types option to restore all types; saving an empty selection does not turn it into all types.

7. Filter by assigned people

Leave Show EVERYONE's events checked for all assignees. Clear it and select the people whose assigned events belong on this screen. Multiple selections can be combined.

With the everyone option off and no people selected, no events match. Both the selected activity types and assignees must match when both filters are in use.

8. Borrow a saved Calendar view

Turn on Use a Calendar View instead and choose an available saved Calendar view. Its filters drive the display, replacing the manual activity-type and assignee controls. The display's own location choice still applies.

This uses the Calendar view's filters, including supported status, people or crew, material and Job Info conditions. It does not copy the Calendar's screen layout. Save the Calendar view first if none is offered. If a borrowed view is removed or unavailable to the display's user, check the resulting scope before relying on the screen.

9. Preview the TV and screen shape

Click Preview this view on a TV view. Live preview uses actual schedule events and the same board renderer as the TV. Today organizes work by activity type; Week lays it out across the calendar week.

Use 16:9, 21:9, 4:3 or Portrait to inspect the intended screen shape. This changes the preview shape, not the TV's hardware resolution or a saved device setting. Preview one TV view at a time. An empty preview can mean that the chosen date range and filters have no matching events.

10. Save and verify the configuration

Click Save Displays and wait for the saved confirmation. The save includes both the TV and tablet named-view lists. Open or reload the intended display to pick up the configuration.

Return to the editor after saving and confirm the name, mode and selected filters. Leaving the editor without saving does not publish the pending changes.

11. Choose a view on the TV

When named views are configured and this browser has no valid saved choice, the TV opens Pick a view. Select the intended named view or Default. The name and filter summary help identify the choice.

The browser remembers this choice for that display surface. Default is also remembered. The TV and tablet have independent choices; selecting a TV view does not set the office's Calendar view or everyone else's screen.

12. Switch views and read the TV

Use the view pill in the corner to reopen Pick a view. Switching changes this browser's display selection. A new named TV uses its configured schedule board; Default uses the built-in today layout with shop activity information.

TV feeds refresh every 60 seconds and show operational information rather than financial figures. Built-in overview counts describe the shop's operational feed, not necessarily only the rows in a filtered view. If the screen looks stale, check its connection and reload.

13. Configure a foreman tablet

In Settings → Templates → Displays, click New view under Foreman Tablet. Set its name, Today or Week, location where offered, and manual or borrowed Calendar filters. Click Save Displays.

Tablet rows use the expandable layout with address, job details and completion controls. TV card fields and screen-shape preview apply only to Shop Floor TV. Open the tablet itself to review its interactive layout.

14. Inspect an activity on the tablet

Open Foreman Tablet from the display directory and choose its view. Tap a schedule row to expand the available site address, job information and notes. Tap it again to collapse. Week mode labels each event's date within the Sunday-to-Saturday week.

Map opens the available site address in a map service. Open goes to the linked job. The event times follow the company's 12-hour or 24-hour clock setting. The view pill changes the tablet's view, and TV mode opens the TV surface.

15. Mark completed work accurately

For a linked activity that is not complete, the expanded row offers Mark complete. Use it only when that activity is actually finished. Successful completion updates the activity status and actual end time; it is not a payment or proof that the entire job is complete.

Wait for the success message and completed row. The tablet refreshes the schedule and dashboard data, and its schedule feed also refreshes every 60 seconds. If completion fails, check access and connection and verify the activity before retrying.

16. Open the crew's field pages

Crew — Today opens the Crew App schedule for the signed-in person's available work. Crew — Warehouse opens the read-only warehouse floor: choose a building, search for a slab and open its rack or bay to inspect the stored pieces. It is not a map of customer driving routes.

Use the Crew App guide for schedule scope, date navigation, job instructions, check-in, photos and completion. A copied crew link does not select a different employee or reassign work. Review the selected scope before using a shared device.

17. Delete an unneeded display view

In Settings → Templates → Displays, use the trash icon on the intended view, then click Save Displays. This removes the named configuration, not any scheduled activity, job or crew assignment.

After reloading a device whose selected view was removed, choose another available view. If no named views remain for that surface, it returns to the built-in default layout.

18. Check the installed screen

Confirm the correct shop, account, named view, date range, filters and readable text on the actual TV or tablet. Check an example against the office schedule before relying on it.

For a missing event, check its date, type, assignees, location and any borrowed Calendar conditions. An empty filtered screen does not mean the entire shop has no work. Use the written steps and related guides when configuring another screen.

Check the result

  • Each device opens the intended view and remembers its choice after reload.
  • TV cards show the intended information; tablet activities expand and use the correct dates and clock format.
  • Saved filters match the work shown, and display changes have not changed job assignments or billing.
