LiDAR room scans for countertop rough-in

Bring the room into the job, then review the estimate-ready geometry.

The landing page identifies LiDAR home scanning as beta. The inspected field-scan implementation links room-scan files to a job and offers a countertop rough-in from detected cabinet geometry when the feature is enabled. The useful handoff is a scan that stays attached to the job and a drawing an estimator can inspect.

A room scan and a finished countertop template have different purposes. Cabinet detection provides a starting point; the estimator still needs to examine runs, wall edges, overhangs, gaps and openings. A successful scan upload alone does not establish that the resulting countertop layout is complete.

Inputs, outputs and an example to evaluate

Inputs: Assigned visits, site contacts, drawings and field updates such as notes or photos.

Outputs: Crew-visible work information and updates associated with the intended job.

Show a sample assigned visit on a phone and the resulting field photo or progress update on the office record.

Scope to understand

Device compatibility, field accuracy and reliable behavior across difficult rooms need a documented device test. This article describes the inspected beta workflow, not a completed accuracy trial.
