Find matching stock

Start with what is in the yard.

Choose the product, color and thickness in Materials & Slabs. The matching-stock notice can bring you to available inventory, including remnants. That list identifies material candidates; it does not prove that the countertop and cutout fit every candidate.

  • Match material, color and thickness.
  • Review the inventory record and dimensions.
  • Look at full slabs and remnants in their actual context.

Choose deliberately

A candidate is a choice to review.

Inspect the available records before selecting stock. Using an inventory slab places it on hold for the quote. Choose whether to add it or replace the current selection, then continue to the layout with the selected material. A suggestion and a hold are different steps in the workflow.

  • Read the candidate record before selection.
  • Understand the hold associated with using inventory.
  • Keep the selected stock attached to the quote.

Check the geometry

Fit is more than square footage.

Review the countertop outline, the sink cutout and the selected remnant together in Slabs & Layout. Area alone cannot show whether a piece fits within the usable dimensions. Check the layout and the physical stock, including any condition or material constraints, before the fabrication handoff.

  • Compare the actual dimensions and piece orientation.
  • Inspect cutouts and the surrounding material.
  • Treat the candidate list as the start of a review.

Questions about Remnant & Cutout Review

Does a matching remnant mean the countertop will fit?

No. Material, color and thickness identify candidates. The drawing and slab layout still need review against the usable stock.

When does the inventory record go on hold?

The workflow explains that using a slab from inventory places it on hold for the quote. Merely seeing it in the candidate list is not that selection.

Why does the cutout matter?

The cutout is part of the real countertop geometry. Review its location and surrounding material with the piece outline and stock dimensions, rather than relying on area alone.

Where can I read the workflow detail?

The remnant-to-cutout research article explains the inputs, scope and review considerations. It is linked below alongside nesting and warehouse workflows.
